Even before the discovery of Code 19 in the Quran, it was well established that the Quran contained certain numerical patterns based on the frequency of occurrences of certain words. For example:
The names Adam and Jesus are each mentioned 25 times. This is particularly significant, because the Quran mentions in Sura 3 verse 59: "The example of Jesus, as far as GOD is concerned, is the same as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be,” and he was." The Quran is characterized by a unique phenomenon never found in any other book; 29 suras are prefixed with 14 different sets of “Quranic Initials,” consisting of one to five letters per set. Fourteen letters, half the Arabic alphabet, participate in these initials. The significance of the Quranic initials remained a divinely guarded secret for 14 centuries.
The Quranic Initials constitute a major portion of the Quran’s 19-based mathematical miracle. We will present some of them below. You can explore all aspects of the Quranic initials through the link provided.
The computer data showed that the text of the only Q-initialed suras, 42 and 50, contained the same number of Q’s, 57 and 57. That was the first hint that a deliberate mathematical system might exist in the Quran.
Sura 50 is entitled “Q,” prefixed with “Q,” and the first verse reads, “Q, and the glorious Quran.” This indicated that “Q” stands for “Quran,” and the total number of Q’s in the two Q-initialed suras represents the Quran’s 114 suras (57 + 57 = 114 = 19x6). This idea was strengthened by the fact that “the Quran” occurs in the Quran 57 times.
The Quran is described in Sura “Q” as “Majid” (glorious), and the Arabic word “Majid” has a gematrical value of 57: M (40) + J (3) + I (10) +D (4) = 57. (Please click)
Sura 42 consists of 53 verses, and 42 + 53 = 95 = 19x5.
Sura 50 consists of 45 verses, and 50 + 45 = 95, same total as in Sura 42.
By counting the letter “Q” in every “Verse 19” throughout the Quran, the total count comes to 76, 19x4.
Here is a summary of the Q-related data:
1. The frequency of occurrence of “Q” in Sura “Q” (No. 50) is 57, 19x3.
2. The letter “Q” occurs in the other Q-initialed sura (No. 42) exactly the same number of times, 57.
3. The total occurrence of the letter “Q” in the two Q-initialed suras is 114, which equals the number of suras in the Quran.
4. “The Quran” is mentioned in the Quran 57 times.
5. The description of the Quran as “Majid” (Glorious) is correlated with the frequency of occurrence of the letter “Q” in each of the Q-initialed suras. The word “Majid” has a gematrical value of 57.
6. Sura 42 consists of 53 verses, and 42 + 53 is 95, or 19x5.
7. Sura 50 consists of 45 verses, and 50 + 45 is also 95, 19x5.
8. The number of Q’s in all verses numbered “19” throughout the Quran is 76, 19x4.
9. The number of Q’s in all verses' number is multiple of “19” (19, 38, 57 … 285) throughout the Quran is 323, 19 × 17.
10. In the standard Mushaf order, the total number of occurrences of the letter Qaf in the surahs numbered 19 and its multiples (19, 38, 57 … 114) is 228, 19 × 12.
11. According to the chronological order presented in Authorized Translation Appendix 23, the total number of occurrences of the letter Qaf in the surahs numbered 19 and its multiples is 171 (19 × 9), which constitutes one of the strongest pieces of evidence that the ordering in Appendix 23 has divine authorization.
12. The total number of occurrences of the letter Qaf in all 66 verses in which the word “Qur’an,” the name of the Book, appears is 152 (19 × 8).
Glimpses of the Quran’s mathematical composition began to emerge. For example, it was observed that the people who disbelieved in Lot are mentioned in 50:13 and occur in the Quran 13 times—7:80; 11:70, 74, 89; 21:74; 22:43; 26:160; 27:54, 56; 29:28; 38:13; 50:13; and 54:33. Consistently, they are referred to as “Qawm,” with the single exception of the Q-initialed Sura 50 where they are referred to as “Ikhwaan.” Obviously, if the regular, Q-containing word “Qawm” were used, the count of the letter “Q” in Sura 50 would have become 58, and this whole phenomenon would have disappeared. With the recognized absolute accuracy of mathematics, the alteration of a single letter destroys the system. (Please click)
Another relevant example is the reference to Mecca in 3:96 as “Becca”! This strange spelling of the renowned city has puzzled Islamic scholars for many centuries. Although Mecca is mentioned in the Quran properly spelled in 48:24, the letter “M” is substituted with a “B” in 3:96. It turns out that Sura 3 is an M-initialed sura, and the count of the letter “M” would have deviated from the Quran’s code if “Mecca” was spelled correctly in 3:96.
This initial is unique; it occurs in one sura, 68, and the name of the letter is spelled out as three letters—Noon Wow Noon—in the original text, and is therefore counted as two N’s. The total count of this letter in the N-initialed sura is 133, 19x7. (Please click to verify)

There are further characteristics related to the letter Sad. Praise be to the Lord who reveals His signs.
These two letters prefix Sura 36. The letter "Y” occurs in this sura 237 times, while the letter "S” (Seen) occurs 48 times. The total of both letters is 285, 19x15.
It is noteworthy that the letter “Y” is written in the Quran in two forms; one is obvious and the other is subtle. The subtle form of the letter may be confusing to those who are not thoroughly familiar with the Arabic language. A good example is the word "Araany أَرَىٰنِىٓ," which is mentioned twice in 12:36. The letter “Y” is used twice in this word, the first “Y” is subtle and the second is obvious. Sura 36 does not contain a single “Y” of the subtle type. This is a remarkable phenomenon, and one that does not normally occur in a long sura like Sura 36. In my book QURAN: VISUAL PRESENTATION OF THE MIRACLE (Islamic Productions, 1982) every “Y” and “S” in Sura 36 is marked with a star.
Seven suras are prefixed with the letters “H" ح and “M" م Suras 40 through 46. The total occurrence of these two letters in the seven H.M.-initialed suras is 2147, or 19x113. The detailed data are shown at this link.

This is the longest set of initials, consisting of five letters, and it occurs in one sura, Sura 19. The letter “K” in Sura 19 occurs 137 times, “H” occurs 175 times, “Y” occurs 343 times, “ `A” occurs 117 times, and “S” (Saad) occurs 26 times. Thus, the total occurrence of the five letters is 137+175+343+117+26 = 798 = 19x42.

An intricate interlocking relationship links these overlapping Quranic Initials to produce a total that is also a multiple of 19. The initial “H.” is found in Suras 19 and 20. The initials “T.H.” prefix Sura 20. The initials “T.S.” are found in Sura 27, while the initials “T.S.M.” prefix its surrounding Suras 26 & 28.
It should be noted at this time that the longer, more complex, interlocking and overlapping initials are found in the suras where uncommonly powerful miracles are narrated. For example, the virgin birth of Jesus is given in Sura 19, which is prefixed with the longest set of initials, K.H.Y.`A.S.
The interlocking initials “H.,” “T.H.,” “T.S.,” and “T.S.M.” prefix suras describing the miracles of Moses, Jesus, and the uncommon occurrences surrounding Solomon and his jinns. God thus provides stronger evidence to support stronger miracles.

The Quran contains 114 suras, of which 29 are prefixed with initials. In eight of the occurrences of these initials, it follows with some variation of the statement “til’ka āyātu l-kitāb” ( تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰب ) which translates to “this is proofs of the book.” Some misunderstand this verse and think that “ayat” means verses, which is the word’s common use today, but Quranically, the word ayat almost always refers to a sign or miracle rather than verses.

The Challenge
Three times in the Quran, it provides the following challenge:
[2:23] If you have any doubt regarding what we revealed to our servant, then produce one sura like these, and call upon your own witnesses against GOD, if you are truthful.
وَإِن كُنتُمْ فِى رَيْبٍ مِّمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْدِنَا فَأْتُوا۟ بِسُورَةٍ مِّن مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
[10:38] If they say, “He fabricated it,” say, “Then produce one sura like these, and invite whomever you wish, other than GOD, if you are truthful.”
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِسُورَةٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
[11:13] If they say, “He fabricated (the Quran),” tell them, “Then produce ten suras like these, fabricated, and invite whomever you can, other than GOD, if you are truthful.”

It is interesting to note that the three suras that pose the challenge all occur in the initial suras.

[2:2] This scripture is infallible; a beacon for the righteous;

(٢) ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
[10:1] A. L. R. These (letters) are the proofs of this book of wisdom.
(١) الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
[11:1] A. L. R. This is a scripture whose verses have been perfected, then elucidated.* It comes from a Most Wise, Most Cognizant.
(١) الٓر كِتَـٰبٌ أُحْكِمَتْ ءَايَـٰتُهُۥ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتْ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ
Sura 74 of the Quran is titled Al-Muddaththir (المدثر), meaning The Hidden Secret. In this sura, the Quran addresses those who, after examining it, dismiss it as nothing more than “clever magic” or a “human invention.” In response, the Quran points to the number 19, presenting it as a divine marker. It then outlines five reasons for this number’s significance, before declaring it one of the great miracles and a universal warning to humankind.
[74:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
[74:1] O you hidden secret.
[74:2] Come out and warn.
[74:11] Let Me deal with one I created as an individual.
[74:12] I provided him with lots of money.
[74:13] And children to behold.
[74:14] I made everything easy for him.
[74:15] Yet, he is greedy for more.
[74:16] He stubbornly refused to accept these proofs.
[74:17] I will increasingly punish him.
[74:18] For he reflected, then decided.
[74:19] Miserable is what he decided.
[74:20] Miserable indeed is what he decided.
[74:21] He looked.
[74:22] He frowned and whined.
[74:23] Then he turned away arrogantly.
[74:24] He said, "This is but clever magic!
[74:25] "This is human made."
[74:30] Over it is nineteen.
[74:31] We appointed angels to be guardians of Hell, and we assigned their number (19)
(1) to disturb the disbelievers,
(2) to convince the Christians and Jews (that this is a divine scripture),
(3) to strengthen the faith of the faithful,
(4) to remove all traces of doubt from the hearts of Christians, Jews, as well as the believers, and
(5) to expose those who harbor doubt in their hearts,
and the disbelievers; they will say, "What did GOD mean by this allegory?" GOD thus sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills. None knows the soldiers of your Lord except He. This is a reminder for the people.
[74:32] Absolutely, (I swear) by the moon.
[74:33] And the night as it passes.
[74:34] And the morning as it shines.
[74:35] This is one of the great miracles.
[74:36] A warning to the human race.

The first verse of the Quran is “In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.” In Arabic, it is pronounced as Bism Allah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem, and is commonly known as the Basmalah. The Basmalah is so special and unique that it constitutes the foundation upon which the Quran’s 19-based mathematical composition is built. It is the opening statement of the Quran, and is composed of exactly 19 Arabic letters.

Thus, the last component is 50, the value of "N" (last letter).

If we write down the number of the sura, followed by its number of verses, we get 17, the number of units (Rak'aas) in the 5 daily prayers. To find the number representing Sura 2, you write down the number of verses in this sura, 286, followed by the number of every verse, written next to each other. Instead of putting the total number of verses in every sura ahead of the sura, let us put it at the end of every sura. Thus, the number representing Sura 1 will look like this: 1234567 7, instead of 7 1234567. The number representing Sura 2 will look like this: 12345.....284 285 286 286 instead of 286 12345.....284285286. The numbers representing the first two suras will look like this:

If we write down the number of suras (114), followed by the number of numbered verses, followed by the Grand Sum of verse numbers in the whole Quran (333410), followed by the numbers of every sura and its verses, we end up with a very long number (12712 digits) that is a multiple of 19.

Another long number that consists of 12774 digits is formed by writing down the number of every verse in every sura, followed by the number of every sura added to its number of verses. Sura 1 consists of 7 verses, and the total 1+7 is 8. Therefore, the number representing Sura 1 looks like this: 1234567 8. Since Sura 2 consists of 286 verses, the number representing Sura 2 looks like this: 12345...286 288. This is done for every sura in the Quran. The final combined number consists of 12774 digits, and is a multiple of 19.

The Quran's 19-based code was revealed by God to mankind through Rashad Khalifa. This momentous revelation that "19” is the Quran's common denominator became a reality in January 1974, coinciding with Zul-Hijjah 1393 A.H. The Quran was revealed in 13 B.H. (Before Hijrah). This makes the number of years from the revelation of the Quran to the revelation of its miracle 1393 + 13 = 1406 = 19x74. The correlation between 19x74 lunar years and 1974 solar years could not escape notice. This is especially uncanny in view of the fact that the only mention of "19” in the Quran is in Sura 74.
After revealing Code 19 to the world and proclaiming that humanity needs to worship God alone in order to obtain salvation in the Hereafter, Rashad Khalifa was martyred on January 31, 1990.
[40:28] A believing man among Pharaoh's people, who was concealing his belief, said, "How can you kill a man just for saying, 'My Lord is GOD,' and he has shown you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, that is his problem, and if he is truthful, you benefit from his promises. Surely, GOD does not guide any transgressor, liar.
Below are further proofs that it was part of God's ultimate plan to reveal this miracle through this individual.
[3:145] No one dies except by God's leave, at a predetermined time.
[40:78] We have sent messengers before you—some of them we mentioned to you, and some we did not mention to you. No messenger can produce any miracle without GOD's authorization. Once GOD's judgment is issued, the truth dominates, and the falsifiers are exposed and humiliated.

God's great miracle in the Quran is based on the prime number 19, and it remained hidden for 1406 years (19x74). This awesome miracle was predestined by Almighty God to be unveiled through Rashad Khalifa. Hundreds of Muslim and Orientalist scholars during the last 14 centuries have tried in vain, but none of them was permitted to decipher the significance of the Quranic Initials.
The Quran is made easy for the sincere believers and seekers (54:17, 22, 32, 40 & 39:28). It is an irrevocable divine law that no one is permitted access to the Quran, let alone its great miracle, unless he or she is a sincere believer who is given specific divine authorization (17:45-46, 18:57, 41:44, 56:79). The unveiling of the Quran's miracle through Rashad Khalifa is a major sign of his messengership.
As pointed out later in this Appendix, all God's scriptures, not only the Quran, were mathematically coded with the number “19.” Even the universe at large bears this divine mark. The number 19 can be looked upon as the Almighty Creator's signature on everything He created (see Appendix 38). The number “19” possesses unique mathematical properties beyond the scope of this Appendix. For example:
[1] It is a prime number.
[2] It encompasses the first numeral (1) and the last numeral (9), as if to proclaim God's attribute in 57:3 as the “Alpha and the Omega.”
[3] It looks the same in all languages of the world. Both components, 1 and 9, are the only numerals that look the same in all languages.

We now understand that the universal coding of God's creations with the number 19 rests in the fact that it is the gematrical value of the word “ONE” in all the scriptural languages — Aramaic, Hebrew, and Arabic.

As shown in Table 7, the Aramaic, Hebrew, and Arabic alphabets used to double as numerals in accordance with a universally established system. The Hebrew word for “ONE” is “VAHD” (pronounced V-AHAD). In Arabic, the word for “ONE” is “WAHD” (pronounced WAAHED).

Mathematical Code of Qur’an Found in Previous Scripture
DIVINE MIRACLE BEGAN THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE REVELATION OF QURAN
During the past 15 years, an overwhelming miracle has emerged in Qur’an. An intricate mathematical system based on the number 19 was discovered throughout Qur’an, providing the first physical, incontrovertible proof that Qur’an is God’s final message to the world. Millions of Muslims around the world have been following this most exciting discovery, and thousands of them have truly appreciated its historical significance. Details of the miracle have been published by this Masjid in several books and pamphlets.
Now comes an equally exciting discovery: THE SAME NUMERICAL CODE HAS BEEN FOUND IN PREVIOUS SCRIPTURE. The excerpts shown below are direct photocopies from the book STUDIES IN JEWISH MYSTICISM, edited by Joseph Dan and Frank Talmage. (THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL WAS WRITTEN 900 YEARS AGO).
The people [Jews] in France made it a custom to add [in the morning prayer] the words: “'Ashrei temimei derekh [blessed are those who walk the righteous way],” and our Rabbi, the Pious, of blessed memory, wrote that they were completely and utterly wrong. It is all gross falsehood, because there are only nineteen times that the Holy Name is mentioned [in that portion of the morning prayer], 18 …and similarly you find the word 'Elohim nineteen times in the pericope of Ve- 'elleh shemot…19 Similarly, you find that Israel were called “sons” nineteen times, and there are many other examples. All these sets of nineteen are intricately intertwined,20 and they contain many secrets and esoteric meanings,21 which are contained in more than eight large volumes.22 Therefore, anyone who has the fear of God in him will not listen to the world of the Frenchmen who add the verse “ 'Ashrei temimei derekh,” and blessed are the righteous who walk in the paths of God’s Torah,23 for according to their additions the Holy Name is mentioned twenty times….. and this is a great mistake. Furthermore, in this section there are 152 words, but if you add “ 'Ashrei temimei derekh” there are 158 words. This is nonsense, for it is a great and hidden secret why there should by 152 words… but it cannot be explained in a short treatise. PLEASE NOTE THAT 152 = 19 x 8
Another aspect of the same process is the attitude towards the text of the prayers. Rabbi Judah warned his neighbors in France and Britain that if they allow even the most minor changes in that text, their prayers will become “like the songs of the uncircumcised non-Jews.” Free expression of feelings, religious or secular, was regarded by Rabbi Judah as a non-Jewish song, which has no place in the framework of worship. While this argument was not directed against rationalistic philosophers but against fellow halakhists and pietists, the problem faced in this commentary by Rabbi Judah is the same one that bothered the philosophers and all thinkers of that period: Why does God insist on a repetitive prayer, said again and again several times every day in exactly the same words, instead of allowing free expression of the individual’s religious feelings in his personal words, reflecting every special occasion? The framework of rationalistic philosophy did not offer a popularly accepted answer to this question, a fact that necessarily weakened the position of the traditional text of the liturgy in the eyes of the intellectuals of the age. It seems that the school that Rabbi Judah represented was the first to offer an answer to that problem – a nonrational answer, bordering on a mystical attitude, namely, the existence of a hidden, esoteric harmony between the text of the prayer and a divine structure, mainly a numerical structure, which is also reflected in the Scriptures, in history and in the creation. Therefore, every deviation from this structure destroys that harmony and secularizes the text of the prayers, turning them simply into collections of words and meanings, like the songs of the non-Jews.
It is possible that this new approach was merely “academic,” and it was not regarded as necessary to keep all the numerical combinations and associations in mind when actually praying. However, there can be no doubt that this new attitude had two results, one of which is manifested in this treatise, while the other is evident from all Ashkenazi Hasidic treatments of the subject: (a) No change can be tolerated in the text of the prayers, not even a minute one, because every change – even of one letter – would destroy the numerical harmony inherent in the text. It does not matter, therefore, whether the change is beneficial fromthe point of view of meaning and content, for this level of meaning is not the most important one in the prayers. The text was formed to reflect mystical harmony, and any change would destroy it. (b) The liturgy received new importance and new meaning within the framework of religious practice. A completely new dimension was added in this way to the daily prayer service; it stopped being just a reciting of requests and praises of God in ancient formulas, and became a vehicle for becoming a participant in a mystical, divine harmony. The prayers suddenly received a new depth of meaning and importance, which was undreamed of in the thousand years that had passed since they were formulated.
According to Rabbi Judah and the Ashkenazi Hasidic school in general, there can be nothing accidental in the Bible, not even the forms of letters, the punctuation, the vocalization, and especially – in the numerical structures – the number of certain letters, consonants or vowels in a certain verse; the number of words from the same root; the number and variety of divine names in a certain pericope, the absence of one or more letters from a chapter, and many other elements of the Scriptures besides their content.

How many people saw Moses' staff turn into a serpent? How long did that miracle last?
How many people witnessed Jesus when he created birds from clay by God's leave, healed the leprous and hopelessly blind by God's leave, and revived the dead by God's leave? How long did these miracles last?
God's miracle to this generation, the mathematical miracle of the Qur'an, is far greater than the miracles Jesus, Moses, and all the previous messengers combined. For the mathematical miracle of the Qur’an has already been witnessed by millions of people, and it is a perpetual miracle that is continuously growing. It has become overwhelming and absolutely incontrovertible. Just think about the few profound facts given below:
1. The Qur'an consists of 114 suras (19x6), and the total number of verses is 6346, or 19x334.
2. The word “God” (Allah) occurs in the Qur’an 2698 times, 19x142, and when we add the numbers of the verses wherever we see the word “God,” the total is 118123, 19x6217.
3. The word "Qur'an" occurs in the Qur'an 57 times (19x3), in 38 suras (19x2), and when we add the numbers of the verses wherever the word "Qur'an" is found, the total comes to 2660 (19x140).
4. When we add the total of the verse numbers where the word "Qur'an" occurs (2660), plus the number of suras where the word "Qur'an" is found (38), the total equals the occurrence of the word "God" (2660+38= 2698 = 19x142).
5. The most important commandment in the Qur’an, “Worship God ALONE,” occurs in 7:70, 39:45, 40:12 & 84, and 60:4 (see INDEX TO THE WORDS OF QUR’AN under "WAHDAHU", page 745). If you add these numbers (7+70+39+45+40+12+84+60+4), you will find the total 361, or 19x19. Think about that! In the same page of the INDEX, you can see that the word "ONE" (WAAHED) referring to God occurs precisely 19 time.
Who could possibly deny this superhuman mathematical intricacies??!! God Himself informs us that "If all the jinns and all the humans banded together to produce a book like the Qur'an, they will surely fail" (17:88).
